 Assessment Definitions
  • Direct assessments provide for the direct examination or observation of student knowledge or skills against measurable learning outcomes.
  • Indirect assessments can provide information about student perception of their learning.  A meaningful assessment program would use both direct and indirect assessments from a variety of sources.

 Assessment Evaluation

Assessment data are systematically reviewed.

  • The Structural Engineering Objectives page shows constituent reviews of Educational Objective assessments.
  • The School Wide Assessments page shows survey keys and results for the Jacobs School overall.
  • Email can be sent to instructors of ABET courses each term, asking the instructors to review their course assessments on their program Course-Outcome Matrix.  Instructor review comments are saved with each course.  Instructor review comments lead to updated course syllabi and updated course-outcome matrix values.
